With ‘Unravel’, singer-songwriter Mariecke Borger unveils her long-awaited third album. Marking a new chapter in her musical journey, the record is at once intimate, warm, and reflective.
The title ‘Unravel’ serves as the thread that runs throughout the album. Across ten songs, Borger gently traces the path that has led her to the present moment, while simultaneously opening up a sense of what lies ahead. The songs seemed to find her during a brief, inspired period in autumn, as she sat at the piano. Over the following year, she and her husband, Floris de Vries, shaped the album together, with Floris de Vries co- producing and recording the project.
The result is a collection of ten finely crafted songs that capture Borger’s voice as both a songwriter and musician with clarity and depth. Unravel moves with ease between brighter, hopeful compositions and more restrained, melancholic reflections. This interplay between light and longing gives the album its distinctive character, a nuanced blend of folk, americana, and intimate storytelling.
